How do I join KaSmart?

A KaSmart officer registers your home, business or institution, records your phone number and location, and gives you a QR card. Get in touch to arrange it.

The app says my phone number isn't registered. What do I do?

You can only sign in with the number KaSmart registered for you. If you changed numbers or were registered with someone else's, call us on +256 700 000 000 and we'll update it.

Do I need a smartphone?

No. You get an SMS after every collection, and the Green Agent can scan your printed QR card. The app is a bonus.

How should I sort my waste?

Keep each kind in its own bag: plastic bottles, hard plastics, paper and cardboard, metal and cans, glass, food and garden waste, e-waste, and old clothes. Empty and dry containers earn the most.

How are my points worked out?

Kilos × the rate for that kind of waste × the sorting quality (×1.0 clean and sorted, ×0.7 partly sorted, ×0.4 poorly sorted). See how it works.

My subscription expired. Will my waste still be collected?

Yes, it is still collected and recorded, but collections made while your plan is not active earn no points. Renew in the app or with KaSmart staff to start earning again.

Why did my points differ from what the agent's phone showed?

The agent's phone shows an estimate. The KaSmart system confirms the final points, and the SMS and the app show the confirmed figure.

When does my balance go down when I cash out?

Only once the mobile money payout is confirmed. If the payout fails, the points come straight back.

Is my location tracked?

Your home or business location is recorded once, when you are registered, so agents can find you. Green Agents share their position only while on shift.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open the menu and choose Delete account, or follow the steps on our account deletion page. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Are KaSmart's carbon figures carbon credits?

No. They are estimates of emissions avoided, not certified carbon credits, and KaSmart doesn't sell them. How we measure impact.
